You Left Me

by Emily Dickinson

You left me, sweet, two legacies, -
A legacy of love
A Heavenly Father would content,
Had He the offer of;

You left me boundaries of pain
Capacious as the sea,
Between eternity and time,
Your consciousness and me.

Emily Dickinson is bisexual... I'm an art student, we studied her. She had many lovers, young and old, man and female. She has a poem for every one of them.

you guys need to calm down, the question of her sexuality still remains a question, and scholars debate the topic still, so no one really knows, and seeing as you can\'t ask her yourself, how about you calm down on the insults to other people? you could use some tact.
Painful but realistic

WOW!!!! whoever gave that delightful summary on how she lost the man of her dreams... shows how knowledgable you really are... Emily Dickinson was a lesbian... don't you feel smart??

I thought that is was good. She lost the man of her dreams, which she must have loved dearly. She didn't even get to show him to her father to approve, but she thought that he would approve. But when he left her (died) he left her all this pain as deep as the sea. Even though he left her the two legacies.

I thought it had real meaning, it didn't have to be long to do that.
It was painful and upsetting to read.
