Personally, I don't think this is a romantic love poem. I think it's about the loss of someone dear to her, perhaps her nephew Gib. Not sure the date this poem was written, but I will look. The question of her sexuality will always be in question, but it's those that act ridiculous that are hiding something in their own lives...or just acting like that to somehow fit in.
