A body falling

Published by at 1:53 pm under Lost Love Poems

Noise
There was noise
But I couldn’t hear it
Everything was white, one low keening filling my head

Flailing
I was flailing
But no matter how hard I hit, I never got free
I was bound, held, fastened. But yet there was no way out

Blood
There was blood.
It was coating my body
It was all over the floor. It was on my hands, in my hair, on my face

Bang
There was a shot
Something loud, a swish of air
One desperate pull of breath as I fought with everything inside of me

Thump
A body falling
Lifelessness. Hope lost.
His body went down, collapsing, falling. Gone.

Screams
I could hear screams
Wrenching through my body.
Screams of agony and heartache. Loud screams, rendering the night speechless

Running
I remember running
Remember falling to my knees
Thick metallic blood. Desperation. Fear. Loss.

Staring
My eyes glued to his
My body shaking, my throat aching
I saw him. I saw the blood. I saw the wound. I saw no life

Waiting
I was waiting
For him to blink. For him to stand up
Hollowness. Time passed as nothing moved

Silence
Everything was still as I waited
No sounds. No screams. No sobs
My eyes were blurred as I waited for him to get up

He never did
