Coat of dust
The old man shivered
In his coat of dust,
Looking out passed the stars.
Memories danced in the wind,
Memories of when his love was young.
They had shone together
like morning rays of sun.
Fitting together like one.
Their smiles made for one another.
He had told er true love never dies.
She had smiled with tears in her green.
Years they spent together,
Full of laughter.
Love and lust.
And never once did their eyes move from each other.
The old man blinks
And the images fade away.
He wipes his salty eyes.
Down he puts the flowers,
Above the stoney ledge.
In a croaky whisper he says
“true love never dies”
As he pats the stone and leaves.
