I carry your heart with me ee cummings

Published by at 10:28 am under EE Cummings

e.e. cummings I carry your heart with me

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
my heart) I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet ) I want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

This is a poem that shows how deeply your love is and that its the kinda love that can keep the stars apart. I love this poem it is one of my favorites and something that stays in my loves mind. He says that when he needs to feel me near this is what he thinks of and that i am not so far. so i believe that it is absolutely beautiful and well written..

This poem was sent to me from afar and definitely touched my heart. I truly like E. E. Cummings writings.

What a truly touching poem. It is like no other. I keep thinking of it, and
it really has me in love with the words, and the way the message is conveyed.
I will read more of his poetry. Just very cool.

This poem is the most romantic and heartfelt poem that I have ever read…

This is exactly how I feel. Just being his friend would have meant the world to me, but he didn’t even want that. He’s with someone else and I respect that, but it will never change the way I feel. Anything can happen to me from now on, I don’t even care. ” I fear no fate, for you are my fate”…

I am dedicating this response to my dear friend Evelyn, who lost her husband to cancer 5 years ago – she cared for him till he died. This was their favorite poem, and they memorized it and said it to eachother until their final days together. It truly is a poem for lovers, be they juntos o muy lejos. Con mucho amor, mi Evelia!

A musician named Michael Hedges set this incredible poem to music. He plays acoustic guitar and sings it as a simple folk song, but it is a very moving rendition. He even hired Graham Nash and David Crosby to sing backing vocals on the track. You can probably find it on iTunes. Michael was a very gifted musician and he said this was one of his favorite pieces of poetry. He handled it with all the love and respect it deserves. Check it out sometime.

I am caring for our Mother with alzheimers & all my siblings live out of town…. My sister is a world traveling executive, my older brother is an engineer, my younger brother is an elementary art school teacher and my youngest brother is “lost in space”………. This poem reminds me as I touch my mother’s face, I touch the face of God. That she lives like a feather on the breath of God (take that image~~see where it takes you).~~~ And as I care for our beloved i carry my siblings heart in my heart.

Christine, I took care of my mom also until she died just two years ago. I love this poem as well and its ability to help us put our feelings into words. Very beautifuly.

Sadly this is printed incorrectly. e.e.cummings only used lower case letters. It impacts how the reader reads his poems. The indentations are also incorrect.

love is gorgeous in my heart! this poem is LOVE~~~~~~~~~~~

    Lovely poem.

Other versions of this same poem have the word “the” in line -3:

which grows higher than THE soul can hope or mind can hide)

but you do not. Which is correct, as cummings originally wrote it?

  25. moeon 28 Nov 2013 at 3:51 pm

there is no love poem, in my humble estimation, that expresses the love, emotion, and affection from within more completly in a few paragraphs than this offering. It will live forever, not solely because of who wrote it but becuse it is written as it is………

I lost my wife to a car wreck on march 2 and the poem is the only poem that even comes close to how I feel. I miss u honey.

I’ve just heard this poem in a film and had to find it on the internet to read it. It’s some of the most beautiful words I think I’ve ever heard. It moved me deeply, as it brought my beautiful daughter to the front of my mind. She passed away aged 4, she would have been 21 this April. The words say how I feel every day. Thank you EE Cummings..
