Last Breath
It’s white and cold, the snow
You told me what they were
cause I would never know
I was always trapped
I could not escape my fate
My fate to be alone forever
But you changed that fate
You gave me kindness and compassion
You taught me how to talk
How to say the words iv been
Wanting to say
But then you told me you couldn’t stay
When you left
I was chained to that dreadfull wall
But you told me before you left
That when a blizzard comes
Help will arrive
So I sat in my own blood and tears
Wishing I could go with you
But still took heed of your warning
I waited for what seemed like months to me
For you to come
But you never did
So one day on a snowy afternoon
I made my plan to escape this hell
I broke out of those chains
And escaped
So now I lie here in this snow
Slowly dying
And as i realized these might be my last moments
I saw you
And realized I was in the middle of a blizzard
You picked me out of he snow gently
Like I could break any moment
And asked “why didn’t you wait”
I only smiled and said
“I couldn’t wait any longer for you”
He only started to cry
I smiled at him
and with my last breath I told him
“I love you”
I haven’t been writing porety of late. All these poems date back many years now. I do write, though, but it’s a paid gig for a national trade magazine. I also write marketing/promotional stuff for a local start-up company. Both are part time gigs.
That’s pretty cool, you have any if your poetry posted online?
