Leather and lace

Published by at 12:37 am under Dark Love Poems

She piled on her make up,
Perhaps a few centimeters to thick.
She strapped her fragile body,
In leather and in lace.
She tousled her hair,
‘Till it swung gently at her waist.
She pasted on a smile,
And told the mirror it will be alright.
Into the brightly lit room she stepped,
Feeding the hungry eyes
Of the love starved men.
On the stage she presented herself,
And excitedy they cheered,
Like young boys at a toy store.
One by one,
They had her.
And she bit back her tears.
Telling herself its only temporary.
The lights went off and they were gone.
Pulling her clothes from off the floor,
She went me with her earnings.
To feed her child,
The one they had created together,
And he had left behind

The way you wrote it made the meaning very clear.
The ending was sort of unexpected but it finished it off nicely.
Brilliantly sad, kind of ominous. Love the feeling of hatred she seems to have for her life.

Everything is only temporary, isn’t it? Very well said. I feel her despair.
