Letting Go Poem
You’ve chosen a life to be on your own
You left our home
If you love someone, set them free
I’ve tried so hard since the day you left
But you don’t want me
Perhaps you love me that much you had to let go
I don’t think so
You left for the single life to pursue
You don’t love me like I love you
Perhaps you never did or will
I’ll never know
Nothing is working, so it’s my turn to let go
I’ve made every effort to start again
No longer can I stand the pain
My broken heart shall bleed no more
You made it clear I know the score
I hope your grass is greener now
For pastures new await me
And perhaps a new love
Who deserves me and everything I have to give
You were once my lover, my soulmate, my best friend
I adore you, I thought there would never be an end
But sadly for us the end is nigh
I’ll keep a special place in my heart for you
Until the day I die
