Loaded Gun

Published by at 6:45 am under Dark Love Poems

I built a wall around me
Rusty hinges on the gates
But she’s still standing – Right outside
The one who always waits

I know I need – To let her in
But it’s so tough to drop my guard
For the one who was never easy
The one who always made it hard

Sorry that I stand aloof
It’s a sham – I’m on my knees
But my heart needs a lot of proof
There are no guarantees
That you won’t break it – Clean in two
Finally take my love and run
Passion can be deadly
When love’s a loaded gun

So smug and so superior
I’ve always played the role
Lust can dig a grave for you
And I’ve so made the hole

Reckless bravery and arrogance
I wear it like a mask
From one lover to another
Just wanting one who’ll last

Apologize for who I am
Even that may be a ploy
Hiding in this body of man
A lost and lonely boy
Trying to honor my father
But I’m not his only son
My love’s a deadly weapon
When my passion’s a loaded gun
