New as Ever

Published by at 9:25 pm under Goodbye Poems

I remember the day I fell for you.
I couldn’t stop smiling.
You played along, to a degree.
We never did anything together,
But you were my first.
I didn’t know any better.
You presence puts me in a stupor even now.
But alone when I’m thinking straight.
I realize what a blessing it is
That you found the courage to end it.
While lies might keep me safe,
I’d rather live life for what it is.
Dealing with the truth
Makes me a better and wiser person.
I don’t regret our time together;
It taught me more than all the wisest proverbs in the world.
I know my mistake now. I won’t make it again.
I’m sorry I dragged you down with me.
If it was hard for you, I apologize.
Moving on is the hard part.
Not for you, but me.
I can pretend, but it’ll take a while nonetheless.
Your name hangs in the air before me.
With luck, it won’t be long
Before the slate is clean and I can start over again.
Whole, and fresh, and new as ever.

Ironically it was published on the one month anniversary of the day he broke up with me. Just thought I’d say. ^_^

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.
