Soulmate

I’ve searched the dictionary for a perfect word to NOMINATE,
A very precious friend of mine that I finally called my SOULMATE;

Time has been rushing by & I hope it’s not too LATE,
To avow my faithful feeling that wouldn’t be as GREAT;

Perhaps I have said too much but couldn’t find a better RATE,
Other than handing you the keys to unlock my heart’s GATE;

You have opened my eyes to tolerate things I used to HATE,
Have trained me how to jump over barriers to OBVIATE,
Have taught me how to clear my mind from thoughts that are harsh & OBSTINATE
And have comforted me through all difficulties with the word “WAIT”;

Have no idea what to call it, my luck or my FATE,
To find such a lifesaver, that I proudly call my SOULMATE!
