The fairy tale’s twist

Published by at 6:20 am under Teenage Love Poems

Cinderella’s in the corner, looking as gorgeous as can be, but Prince Charming’s eyes are locked on me.
A fairy tale twist, the ending nobody saw.
The second best gets the prize, upturning all Disney’s laws.
Only, now that your mine, I’m not sure what to do.
I fear you’ll soon realize how much better you can do.
I’m trying my hardest, giving it my all.
But, despite my best efforts, I don’t think I can write a happy ending.
You’re too good to be true, I can never be the one for you.
No matter how deeply and truly I love you, were bound to fall apart.
I’ll never leave you, even though I should.
I’m selfish, so I keep you locked inside my hearts cage.
If I really cared, and wanted the best for you, I’d set you free and let you soar.
But that would me you leaving me.
And though I know you’ll one day take flight, I’ll cherish every moment until that night.
