The Sound Of A Man
I fall to the ground,
All filled with despair,
I shout out no sound,
Cause my lungs have no air,
My hands hit my face,
They now cover these tears,
While pain and disgrace,
Cover the last 5 years,
My heart starts to flutter
My mind drifts away,
I’ve closed all my shutters
Locked away for days,
There is no way in here
There is no way out,
I gasp for air,
I then hear myself shout,
It’s a sound of the wicked,
The weak and discouraged,
It’s the sound of a man,
Who has lost his courage,
It’s the sound of the wounded,
The hurt and depleted,
It’s the sound of a man,
Destroyed and defeated,
It echoes and echoes,
And in my mind it repeats,
Im unable to let go,
Cause it has made me so weak,
I hold on to depression,
Until I can’t take no more,
I’m no ones possession,
An unloveable whore,
And for a moment you had me,
Though I pushed you away,
For a moment you loved me,
And showed me better days,
And for a moment I thought,
There was reason to live,
Now I know that there’s not,
I have nothing to give,
And this is what it has come to,
These tears and sin,
I realize that I’ve lost you,
That’s when I shout again,
It’s the sound of the hurt,
The broken and faded,
It’s the sound of a man,
Who is cold and jaded,
It’s the sound of the lonely,
The dead and the rotten,
It’s the sound of a man,
Who is lost and forgotten.

I could quote a dozen or more lines out of this poem that absolutely moved me. A lot of raw emotion seeped out of every stanza, every word, every letter.
I was in tears by the end of it, and you left me in complete agony, imagining this lonely, defeated shout of a man who is, as you’ve written, lost and forgotten.
I found that this stanza, in particular, left me stunned to silence at how eloquently it was put, and how easily I could relate to certain aspects of the feelings expressed:
“It’s the sound of the wounded,
The hurt and depleted,
It’s the sound of a man,
Destroyed and defeated,”
Your poetry is exceptional, well done.
