To The Eternal
Ships crossed each other in the sea of darkness
in the faint flicker of the lantern
some faces were seen
glances exchanged
sound of brass heard
but darkness swallowed it whole.
people melted away into their own world
But you were the image that stayed
the beep in my mind each day
indispensable, truly unique
and none ever stirred my heart
the way you did.
Something inexplicable about your countenance
which clung to my eyes
is being evoked by this starry night
I step into the memories that yesterday left behind
want to hold onto them tight
until the end of time.
You’re the memory that’s going to live on
remain afresh in my mind each day
everlasting, absolutely distinctive
and none ever inspired me
the way you continue to.
You’ll live high in my heart forever
‘cause this love is eternal.
