Unrequited Love Poem
Unrequited Love Poem
Sentiment wasted
Heart asleep
Though emotions overwhelm me
Each second an eternity of misery borne of separation
His reasoning crystalline in it’s righteousness
Yet devoid of satisfaction fulfillment or redemption
It leaves me hollow
Each deceptively endless moment
Endured though by no will of my own
I find myself without a choice drifting vulnerably along
One moment sweeping me along
Into the night where mercifully
Overcome I sleep
Sweet merciful sleep
Bittersweet
She settles over me heavily
Blessedly forgivingly
A blanket of grief that comforts me
Sleep settles over me like a protective friend
More protective than he ever was
Bringing solstice and relieving the burden
Of what I have become
Oh sleep what you’ve given me for what I’ve done
Entrusted him with my soul
Forgive me now and show me how to forget what might have been
If only he’d trusted me with his soul and treasured mine

Beautful, and sadly familiar
Beautiful poem.. painfully true.
