You tell me that it’s over,
You say that we are through.
My brain understands all of this.
But my heart still misses you.
You say it isn’t working between us,
We are far too different.
You say you hope you haven’t hurt me,
And you still want to be friends.
But we both know that it wouldn’t work,
The simple sight of you reduces me to tears.
I wish that it has worked between us,
I love you so much it hurts.
But you have somebody new.
My life seems to be over,
Yet the world keeps spinning.
You tell me that it’s over,
You say that we are through.
My brain understands all of this.
But my heart still misses you.
